So I’m a little late in putting together my most recent monthly favorites, what with midterms and take-homes piling up, but I’m finally getting it up here. All the products I loved throughout the month were on the neutral or natural side – I guess I was unknowingly going for the no-makeup-makeup look, or maybe I just got lazy. Who knows?
RMS Beauty Living Luminizer
This little wonder has quickly become my favorite highlighter in my collection. It can be used subtly, or be built up and topped with another highlighter, but my favorite way to use it is just as an everyday enhancer. It has no sparkle in it whatsoever, it just provides a beautiful, natural glow.
Buxom Full-On Lip Crème in White Russian
With spring coming along (COME FASTER), it’s nice to switch up the usual matte lip, and this lip gloss is the perfect way to do so. It’s really shiny and lip-plumping, and it’s a rosy nude color but really can top literally any color lipstick, and it’s definitely my new holy grail lip gloss.
Marc Jacobs Beauty Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in 246 Slow Burn
I currently own 3 Marc Jacobs Lip Crème Lipsticks (in deluxe sample sizes, because $$$), and this one in the shade Slow Burn is my favorite. It’s a nude rose color and it’s really great for everyday or to tone down a deeper eye look.
Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
I got this as a point perk from Sephora, and I’ve been using it every time I wear foundation, and every night before bed as part of my skincare routine, and in my hair… It’s so versatile, and I’ll likely be buying the full-size product when I finish this sample (since I’m blasting through it pretty quickly). Not only does it moisturize my skin but it also makes my foundation wear a lot nicer. A lot of foundations tend to grab onto some of the more dry areas of my face, but I’ve found that since using a couple of drops of oil before applying my foundation I get a much more luminous finish that hides how dry and cracked my skin gets in the winter.
Bite Beauty Lip Pencil in 20
I’ve spoken about these already when I was sent these lip pencils by Influenster and Bite Beauty, but I really got a chance to wear them a lot more throughout the month. 20 is the perfect neutral shade for me, and it’s a great match to so many lipsticks I already own so I’ve been using it almost daily.
Nars Blush in Goulue
Nars blushes are notoriously great quality, so I was excited to receive this mini size when I got to VIB Rouge at Sephora a few months ago. I put off using it for a while, because the color seemed like something I would never buy myself, but when you actually use it, it’s a beautiful color that, if applied lightly, works just as easily for everyday as it does for dramatic looks.
While Elf makeup brushes obviously aren’t the BEST quality, the price makes them completely worth it. Each of the eye brushes I bought from them recently was no more than $3, and they’ve all worked great so far. Especially if all you’re doing is a simple look, these brushes are really all you need while being crazy affordable.
Kat Von D Shade and Light Eye Palette
I bought this a couple months ago, but it’s become my go-to palette, especially for everyday. It has 12 matte shades, divided into three sections (cool tone, warm tone, and neutral), and it’s so easy to achieve an effortless, easy eye look. The quality of these shadows is incredible – if you don’t like powdery shadows you WON’T like these – my palette is a mess – but ultimately I think that’s what makes them so easy to blend and work with.
My last favorite this month is this gold vintage ruby ring. After doing some pretty solid spring cleaning, my mom found this ring and I asked her if I could have it because I think it’s so dainty and beautiful. It’s the first ring my dad gave my mom, when they were in high school, and since it now pretty much only fits her pinky, I took it into my possession – it’s just too damn cute to keep stuffed in a box in the bottom of her drawer.
That’s it for my February monthly favorites, I didn’t try many new products this much or anything really unique or interesting, but I love finding products that are really easily wearable and that I know I’ll get a lot of use out of – and let’s all just ignore the fact that this post is only going up almost 1/3 of the way through March.
